According to Variety, the cast of David Gordon Green’s Nutcrackers will also star Linda Cardellini, Tim Heidecker, Toby Huss, and Edi Patterson along with the already announced Ben Stiller. Nutcrackers follows Stiller’s character, a work-obsessed man who must look after his four nephews in rural Ohio after a car accident results in the death of their parents. Cardellini will play as a social worker, Heidecker as a local deputy, Huss as an eccentric millionaire, and Patterson as an orphan profiteer.
The film’s script is written by Leland Douglas and is developed by Rough House Pictures.
Serving as producers on Nutcrackers are Rob Paris and Mike Witherill for Rivulet Films (who is also fully financing the film), Stiller and John Lesher for Red Hour Films, and Nate Meyer for Rough House Pictures. Green’s film has just finished wrapping up production outside of Cincinnati as well.
Cardellini is known for her role in the series Dead to Me for which she earned an Emmy nomination, and she has also starred in Brokeback Mountain, Avengers: Endgame, and Green Book. Patterson is best known for his role in The Righteous Gemstones, and he has also starred in Vice Principals and Knives Out. Heidecker has starred in films, such as, Bridesmaids and Us. Huss has done voiceover work on King of the Hill and has also starred in Green’s Halloween.
