Despite a second weekend drop, Star Trek Beyond has generally favored well with audiences and critics. And even though J.J. Abrams’ two installments – Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness – were also successes, Justin Lin’s classic, colorful take in Beyond has been a refreshing change of pace for the reboot series. The film combines stunning visuals and wonderful new characters, both of which may show up again in the recently announced fourth installment. And just to give fans another nice look at the stunning art that went into crafting Beyond‘s style, some nice new poster art has been unveiled.
As always, this year’s San Diego Comic-Con has featured endless amounts of great unseen footage, casting news, enticing teasers, and much more. And even though Marvel and DC Comics were often at the forefront, Star Trek Beyond still had a noticeable presence. Excitement broke out when it was announced that the film was going to premiere there in IMAX, giving a lucky few the very first look at it. However, with the film now in theaters, there are only so many ways that diehard fans can see even more. Star Trek has had a long, glorious life on the big and small screen. Lin’s latest effort is a reminder of the ever-growing strength that the franchise holds, which will surely not go away anytime soon. This new art clearly showcases that there are people who want to keep the original series in their minds, but also want to create fresh, inventive stories that newer audiences can discover for the first time.
