The upcoming Spider-Man film, which is rumored to be kicking off a second Tom Holland trilogy, will see Scorpion (Michael Mando) potentially participating in a jailbreak, according to recent set images. The images show Scorpion emerging from a helicopter, wearing what looks to be a white prison uniform.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will star Holland as Peter Parker in his fourth Spider-Man movie. The film will focus more on street crime than the extremely high-stakes situations of past Holland movies. Central to this change in theme will be Joe Bernthal as Punisher, a much anticipated cross-over between Punisher (2017-2019) and the MCU trilogy.
Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone are other characters reportedly cast in the film. Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), and Tramell Tillman (Severance) will also feature, though their roles remain confidential. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will direct. Chris McKenna and Erik Summers, who wrote the last three Spider-Man films, have continued their work with Brand New Day.
The film, which is shooting in Glasgow, has experienced several setbacks. Holland suffered a minor concussion last month, temporarily putting filming on hold. The release date of the film, now July 31, 2026, was moved two weeks back in order to avoid IMAX conflict with Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (which Holland will also star in).
Following Brand New Day, Holland is expected to star in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for release December 18, 2026.
