Popular actress Sydney Sweeney is taking the next step in her film career. She’s just put together her own production banner, under the name of Honey Trap.
Widely known for her roles in front of the camera, it won’t come as a shock to those who have been following her work that she’s looking into being more involved behind the scenes. She’s already worked double duty on some of her own products to this capacity, serving as a producer while starring in films like Christy and Immaculate, as well as executive producing Anyone But You and The Housemaid.
Deadline noted that Anyone But You marked an important step in this path for her, as the film was distributed by Sony. She’s attached to an upcoming adaptation of Barbarella, under Sony and TriStar, in which she will both star and executive produce. Sweeney, alongside co-creator Kaylee McGregor, has also brought Honey Trap to Sony Pictures for a partnership before any other company.
Upon their reporting, Deadline also noted that Sweeney’s mission statement for Honey Trap made her goals clear. Part of it stated that they’ve set the goal to “create bold, cinematic film and television that challenges perception, sparks conversation, and leaves a lasting emotional imprint,” while also stating they’re similarly striving to find ways for all kinds of audiences to enjoy their stories.
