While fans of Pixar are looking forward to next year’s animated film Onward, it turns out that won’t be the only original Pixar movie to be release next year. Pixar has just announced that they have one other film set to release in the Summer of 2020, known as Soul.
For the time being there is not much information regarding Soul, as no real plot synopsis has been released for the film. However, the tagline for the film states, “Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you… YOU?”. The film has also been given a release date of June 19th, 2020, being released the same day as an untitled Judd Apatow comedy. No voice cast has been announced for the film yet, however it has been announced that Pete Doctor, director of Up and Inside Out, will be set to direct the upcoming Pixar Film.
With a plethora of sequels that have come out within the past decade from Pixar, fans should be grateful that Pixar is starting out the first year of the decade with two original films. Soul will be released only about 3 months after Onward, which is slated for a March release of 2020, making it the smallest ever gap between Pixar releases. Given that they are two non-sequels coming back to back from Pixar, there will certainly be some fun upcoming content in 2020 from the CGI animation studio.
Soul is set for release on June 19th, 2020.
