A new poster and trailer for Mortdecai, the newest film staring Johnny Depp, have now hit the web. The film is based on the book by Craig Brown and Kyril Bonfigliol, and centers on suave 1960’s art dealer Charlie Mortdecai (Depp), who goes undercover for British intelligence to find a stolen painting connected to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold. However, Mortdecai and his wife (Gwenyth Paltrow) plan to steal the painting for themselves.
The film is directed by David Koepp (Premium Rush, Ghost Town), who worked with Depp on the 2004 Stephen King adaptation Secret Window. Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting), Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day), Olivia Munn (HBO’s The Newsroom), and Aubrey Plaza (TV’s Parks and Recreation) also star. Audiences got their first look at the film when the teaser trailer was released back in August.
With a February release date, Mortdecai, is part of a big slate of releases for Depp, with Into the Woods later this year and the sequel Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass hitting theaters in 2016. Depp was recently confirmed for the fifth film in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Check out the trailer for Mortdecai below:
