After making a huge debut with the critically acclaimed horror movie, Hereditary, many are curious to see what the next film from Ari Aster will offer. Turns out that will come sooner than most expected with the acclaimed horror director’s next movie, Midsommar being set to release this summer. The horror film has just received a brand new trailer today showcasing more of an unsettling tone that is to be expected from the mind who created Hereditary.
The trailer starts out with a couple played by Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor, having issues that may be damaging to their relationship. However, when a family tragedy occurs, the couple tries to set out ways to improve their relationship. The couple ends up going on a retreat to Sweden to experience this Mid-Summer festival to help make things better. Little did they know, the Festival has a dark history behind it and through out the rest of the trailer, it showcases the surreal and sadistic things the people of this cult do. It makes for a very effective and creepy trailer that can be described by Aster himself as, “The Wizard of Oz but for perverts”. The film will be on track to continue Aster’s ever growing career as a horror movie mastermind if the trailer gives any indication on what the film will be like when it comes out this summer.
Midsommar is set to releases on July 3rd 2019.
