New ‘Masters Of The Universe’ Film Casts Nicholas Galitzine As He-Man

The upcoming big-screen adventure of He-Man has just cast its leading role. Actor Nicholas Galitzine will play the main character in the new Masters Of The Universe film, based on the Mattel toy brand. Masters Of The Universe is one of the many iconic toy brands born out of the 80s, following He-Man and his allies as they fight the villainous forces of Skeletor.

The casting of Galitzine after his appearance in The Idea Of You. The 29-year-old actor also starred in Purple Hearts, Red, White & Royal Blue, and Bottoms. The film production head at parent company Amazon MGM, Julie Rapaport, said, “We’re thrilled to bring the beloved Masters of the Universe to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man.”

Helming the film is Travis Knight. Knight has worked in the animation department for multiple films, including some from Laika such as Coraline and The Boxtrolls.

His two directorial credits encompass Kubo And The Two Strings and Bumblebee. The latter of the two is a spinoff of Transformers, which came about in a similar time and manner to that of Masters Of The Universe.

Deadline pointed out that very little is known in terms of the story that the movie will tell. It is written, however, by Laika alum Chris Butler.
