More and more ads are surfacing for the upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King. With its July theatrical release on the horizon, this latest ad showcases a little more than what we’ve previously seen from past trailers. Not only do we see some new footage, but we also witness the animals talking.
This newest short gives us a brief glimpse of Nala (voiced by Beyonce) talking to Simba about reclaiming his place as King of Pride Rock. Throughout the ad, we see a mix of old and new footage recreating moments from the original film in live action. Not to mention, the footage is set to an orchestrated version of the final verse of Hakuna Matata.
After that in mind, the ad concludes with Timon and Pumbaa (voiced by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen) arriving and announcing that they will assist in the final confrontation. While some Disney fans remain critical of this remake for not being as expressive as the 1994 animated classic, despite its impressive CGI, many remain interested in what it could add to the original story. At the very least, fans will get to hear big names like Seth Rogen and Beyonce’s voice wild African animals.
The Lion King will be released on July 19th, 2019. Watch the full 30 second trailer below:
