New Line is making a major splash as the studio has acquired the feature film rights to author Sarah Knight’s international bestselling book The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck, which serves as a satirical and self-help guide according to Deadline. The adaptation will be helmed by Rachel Hirons and produced by Alexa Faigen. Hirons made her feature directorial debut last year with A Guide to Second Date Sex.
The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck is renowned for its unapologetic tone and Knight’s ability to mentally stimulate. The book is described by critics as ”a system for identifying what annoys you and clearing it out of your life just as you would with physical junk that no longer serves its purpose.” Among other praiseworthy aspects, the book features a predominately hysterical atmosphere and grapples with a plethora of common sense methods of increasing joy in life. The book also is unafraid of encouraging readers to not suppress to personal guilt tagged with saying no to things that don’t incite growth.
Knight’s catalog includes five published bestselling books including the No F*cks Given Guides series, Get Your Sh*t Together, and Calm the F*ck Down. All of Knight’s works have been translated into approximately thirty different languages, giving her a worldwide following. Knight also has a TEDx Talk program, “The Magic of Not Giving a F*ck,” which has accumulated millions of views globally.
