New Horror Franchise ‘Rule Of Three’ Begins Production, Thomasin McKenzie Set To Lead

Temple Hill (SmileTwilightThe Maze Runner) and Nostromo have formally announced their next big project that will ideally make a splash in the horror scene. Filming has begun for Rule of Three, a horror film that is intended to kickstart a trilogy of films. The film will star Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo RabbitLast Night in Soho), Chloe East (Heretic), Sutton Foster, Jimmi Simpson, Tom Everett Scott and Bilal Hasna. The plot follows a girl who must circumvent a deadly curse placed on her family where a member dies every three years. She teams up with her best friend to cheat death and free herself from the curse.

The film is based on the novel of the same name, written by Sam Ripley. It is being directed by James Roday Rodriguez, and the screenplay is being penned by Rodriguez along with Todd Harthan. Protagonist Pictures is handling sales for the film, with their last collaboration with Temple Hill being for Clown in a Cornfield. Protagonist’s CCO George Hamilton said in a statement, “As we kick off production on our fourth feature together, we’re incredibly fortunate to be joining forces once again with Temple Hill on this daring and bold psychological horror. We’re thrilled to have world-class international partners on board to champion the film and introduce the first chapter of what will be a fun, smart but unsettling story for audiences worldwide.”

There is so set release date for Rule of Three yet, but with filming already underway, it is safe to assume that it will be ready for next year at the latest. Stay tuned for more updates on the film.
