Bennett Miller’s dark drama, Foxcatcher has a new teaser trailer. Based on the Olympic wrestler, Mark Schultz’s true story, the film stars Channing Tatum (22 Jump Street), Steve Carell (The Office), and Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers).
Foxcatcher has recently received superb reviews at Cannes. The competition committee awarded Miller (Capote) with the best directing honor. Additionally (as we previously mentioned) Carell’s first break from comedy has evoked Oscar discussions. He plays John du Point, a paranoid multimillionare, who develops an unhealthy relationship with the wrestler and an antagonistic relationship with his brother, Dave (Rufallo). Carell spent 7 months thoroughly preparing to unearth this mentally unstable man.
The new teaser (below) reveals the extreme lengths that Tatum and Carell are willing to go in pursuit of gold. Tatum yearns for America to be the best and explains, “It’s about what the medal represents.”
Tatum has been assuming the lead in the marketing as of late. He is the only one of the three stars featured in Foxcatcher’s new poster. Additionally, in this teaser, his footage time exceeds both Carell and Ruffalo’s.
It looks like Foxcatcher may be the next wrestler-based movie to receive academy recognition, following Darren Aronofsky’s Oscar-nominated The Wrestler (2008). Foxcatcher will not need to grapple with too many concerns regarding it’s theatrical debut November 14th.
