New ‘Fear Street’ Films In Development

R.L. Stine has sold more than 80 million copies of his Fear Street novels, attracting the attention of Netflix. The streaming giant released a three-part movie adaptation in 2021. This trilogy was a big hit in the horror community, creating fans who are eager for more. So when Stine recently revealed that additional Fear Street films are on the way, it attracted a lot of attention.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about the second season of Goosebumps on Disney+, Stine teased upcoming Fear Street movies on Netflix. Not one, not two, but three or more Fear Street films are in development, according to Stine. Season 2, dubbed Goosebumps: The Vanishing, will bring new stories to the Disney+ series and remain faithful to the books by including plenty of twists:

“It’s the surprises, for one thing – the shocks. When I write a Goosebumps book, that’s my most important thing, the twists and the shocks […] I think they’re not predictable. So much of children’s literature is so linear, and so many horror movies, you know what’s coming. But I always try to have something that turns it all around that no one’s expecting.”

It is unclear whether the three films will release back-to-back, like the original Fear Street trilogy, or if they will be released at a slower pace. Stine’s standalone film, The Prom Queen, is set to premiere later this year on Netflix.
