Japanese Animated films have been starting to get a bit more experimental by creating new CGI adaptations to famous Japanese properties. One film that is highly anticipated is the upcoming film adaptation of Monkey Punch’s iconic character, Lupin the Third. An update for Lupin III: The First has been announced as a new trailer of the English dub has been released that also announces the film’s release date in the U.S.
The trailer is another action pack ride showcasing a lot of the over the top action and style that this series has been known for. Something that some fans might be excited about is that the new trailer also reveals the cast for the English dub as the cast from the original anime dub are reprising their roles in the upcoming film. Some of these actors include, Tony Oliver, Richard Epcar, Lex Lang, Michelle Ruff and a few others as well.
It was also announced that the film will be getting a theatrical release through GKids and Fathom Events in the United States. The film will have two screenings in the U.S., the first being an English Dub screening on October 18th followed up by a screening of the subtitled version to be released on October 21st. It also has been stated that the film will be getting a digital release later this December as well but no exact date has been set yet. Regardless, whether fans see this movie in theaters or not, it is very exciting for one of the most iconic anime characters have their newest film get an American release. And from the looks of how insanely well done and faithful this adaptation looks, it seems like fans will not be disappointed in Lupin’s return.
