With Detective Pikachu approaching its release date, another trailer has been released to increase the hype around the film. The trailer was posted on actor Ryan Reynold‘s twitter page. This time this new trailer showcases very little dialogue and instead shows a ton of the colorful, expressive Pokemon that fans want to see in live action. Fans of the videogames, mobile app, and cartoons will recognize plenty of iconic creatures such as Bulbasaur, Charmander, Psyduck and many more.
The trailer showcases both old and new footage of Pokemon interacting with this unique film world and all of this is set through Louie Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World. No real battles are shown, just Pokemon interacting with the world and the trailer finally ends with Pikachu saying to Justice Smith, “Listen kid, if your dad was here, he would hug you so hard, your bones would pop.”
The trailer is incredibly fitting for the Pokemon franchise, being that it has plenty of laid back, sweet moments mixed in with the action. It is a side of Pokemon that isn’t always seen from the outside but is always appreciated by fans when it happens. The film will hopefully maintain both the heart and action that makes the franchise so enduring.
Detective Pikachu will be released on May 10th 2019 and you can check out the full trailer below.
