New ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’ Trailer Pokes Fun At Daylight Savings Time

This May is going to be an absolutely packed month for big releases: Captain America: Civil War, X-Men: Apocalypse, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and finally Alice Through The Looking Glass. The sequel to the 2010 Tim Burton hit was helmed by James Bobin (The Muppets). The ensemble cast has returned that features Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, the late Alan Rickman, Anne Hathaway, and more. Two full-length trailers have been released along with few colorful teasers. And to mark the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, the Disney film has introduced another sneak peek.

While there’s not much new footage, it’s still a delight to see the incredibly vivid design of the world, which somewhat follows Burton’s style but clearly has some influence from Bobin as well. One of the newcomers is Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) as the villain. Cohen should bring a great comedic element to the film, especially being able to bounce off the other terrific actors.

Even though the first film did gross over $1 billion worldwide, one of the complaints from critics was the overusing of CGI rather than Burton’s tried-and-true method of practical effects. And Burton is a producer on the sequel, there looks to be a beautiful mix of those two elements, which should please young and old audiences alike.

Alice Through The Looking Glass hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
