Netflix’s ‘Masters of the Universe’ Film Casts Kyle Allen as He-Man

Kyle Allen, recently seen in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, has been cast as He-Man in Netflix’s Masters of the Universe film adaptation.

Masters of the Universe originated as an 80’s cartoon that followed He-Man, or Adam, an orphaned prince who learns of his immense power and destiny to save the land of Eternia. The new adaptation will be helmed by The Nee Brothers who will direct and have co-written the series with David Callahan (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings).

Masters of the Universe is an iconic property that shaped the imaginations of an entire generation of kids with the message of becoming the best version of yourself. With our partners at Netflix, we look forward to showing audiences that anything can happen in Eternia. We are continuing to unlock this global franchise in new ways, and we can’t wait to see Kyle battle it out with Skeletor in this epic live-action saga,” said Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Films. Brenner will lead the project from Mattel Films with Kevin McKeon.

In addition to Allen’s role in West Side Story, he can also be seen in The Map of Tiny Perfect Things, All My Life, and the eighth season of American Horror Story.

The series is expected to go into production soon.
