Netflix’s ‘Back in Action’ Trailer Shows Jamie Foxx And Cameron Diaz Returning As Spies

Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz are returning as spies in the new trailer for Netflix’s action-comedy film Back in Action

The trailer shows the characters rediscovering their love for espionage.

Directed by Seth Gordon, the movie is scheduled for streaming as early as Jan. 17, 2025. The cast also includes Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, McKenna Roberts, Rulan Jackson, and Glenn Close.

The movie follows Foxx’s character, Matt, and Diaz’s, Emily, who retired as CIA spies so that they could start a family, but soon had to return to their roles when their cover was exposed.

Brendan O’Brien and Gordon co-wrote the script. Producers for the film are Gordon for Exhibit A alongside Jenno Topping, Peter Chernin and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett for Chernin Entertainment, and Beau Bauman for Good One Productions. Foxx, O’Brien, Datari Turner, and Tim Lewis will executive produce.

Cameron Diaz ends her 11-year acting hiatus with this project, her last being 2014’s Annie which also starred Foxx. Back in Action is also Foxx’s return to the entertainment business as he was said to have had medical issues in April 2023 and was hospitalized.

Back in Action is set to start streaming on Netflix on Jan. 17, 2025.
