Netflix Releases ‘The Silence’ Trailer

The trailer for the upcoming Netflix thriller, The Silence, was released Friday. Directed by John R. Leonetti, the film combines elements from The Quiet Place and Netflix’s most recent popular thriller, Bird Box. It is based on the novel of the same name by author, Tim Lebbon. The cast features Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Stanley Tucci, Kate Trotter, John Corbett, and Kyle Breitkopf.

The preview opens with a family waiting silently in a car with broken windows, wondering what their next move will be. The father (Stanley Tucci) steps out of the car carefully and surveys the landscape. One of the women (Kate Trotter) begins to cough, calling attention to the car. The screen blacks out and the audience is left wondering whether the creatures they are hiding from discover their hideout. As the trailer progresses, the family does everything they can to fend for themselves from bat-like creatures that are wiping out cities across the U.S. Among the chaos, a cult tries to take advantage of 16-year-old Alley Andrews’ (Kiernan Shipka) loss of hearing.

Shipka has been working on Netflix’s dark series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a reimagination of the 90s sitcom, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She is currently filming for Luke Snellin’s romantic comedy, Let It Snow. Tucci is starring in the prequel to the Kingsman franchise titled Kingsman: The Great Game which will be released in 2020.

The Silence will be available on Netflix on April 10. Watch the trailer below.
