Extraction 2 releases only on Netflix on June 16, produced by Joe and Anthony Russo and directed by Sam Hargrave. The trailer has been released by Netflix, teasing the one-shot 21-minute action sequence of Tyler Rake, Chris Hemsworth’s character.
Hargrave made his directorial debut with the first Extraction film, released in 2020. Hargrave has a background as a stunt coordinator from working on several action-packed movies: Avengers Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2, The Accountant, Captain America: Civil War, Suicide Squad, and Atomic Bomb. Hargrave and the Russo brothers, prior to the Extraction films, had already collaborated on the Civil War and the Avengers films.
On their Instagram, alongside three posters all featuring Hemsworth, the Russo brothers posted:
“What if we told you that all of these posters were from the same oner…a 21 minute long oner. Get ready…”
Extraction 2 follows Hemsworth’s character Tyler Rake as an Australian black op with a new mission to rescue a battered family in prison from a Georgian gangster. The original Extraction made Netflix history by becoming the most-watched Netflix original, with the movie reaching 99 million households in the first four weeks. During 2020’s Fourth of July weekend, Extraction was reintroduced to the Top 10, becoming the fourth most streamed movie in 2020.
