Netflix has shown a knack for adapting YA beloved novels, such as Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Ever Loved, onto the big screen. Now the official trailer for their next book-to-movie adaptation is here, based on Jennifer Niven‘s 2015 bestselling YA novel All The Bright Places. The heartbreaking romantic drama tells the story of the unorthodox, unpredictable character Theodore Finch and the introverted, troubled Violet Markey, played by Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Elle Fanning (Maleficent) respectively. Together, the teenagers carve out their love story as they seek passion in living while struggling with their own mental health and past trauma.
The trailer opens up with Violet as she goes through her life with a dark cloud surrounding her. It’s immediately revealed that her sister died in a car accident last year, which is why she isolates herself from her peers. The course of her routine changes when she encounters a persistent Finch for a classroom group project. The two grow closer together through deep, relatable conversations, developing into a passionate, loving relationship. The trailer depicts both the highs and the lows of their lives as they are constantly battling their own fears, trauma, and insecurities, but that does not stop them from fulfilling their pact to start searching for “all the bright places”, the most exciting moments and wonders of their worlds.
Directed by Brett Haley, the film also features Keegan-Michael Key and Luke Wilson. The movie will be released on Netflix on February 28, 2020. Check out the trailer below:
