Netflix’s most recent whodunit has received its sequel, along with new cast members. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Murder Mystery 2, starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, has also welcomed Mark Strong, Melanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, Kuhoo Verma, Enrique Arce, Annie Mumolo, Zurin Villanueva, and Tony Goldwyn to the star-studded cast. Adeel Akhtar and John Kani, from the first film, are to return as their characters from the 2019 film in the sequel.
Jeremy Garelick is set to direct while James Vanderbilt will be behind producing.
The first film came out in 2019, Murder Mystery, starred Sandler and Aniston as husband and wife who went on a European vacation. They ended up being framed for the murder of an elderly billionaire. According to Netflix, the feature was the streaming service’s most-watched film of 2019.
The plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps, but filming is currently underway in Hawaii.
Sandler and Allen Covert will produce for Happy Madison, Aniston for Echo Films, Tripp Vinson for Vinson Films, James Stern for Endgame Entertainment, and Vanderbilt. Barry Bernardi, Kevin Grady, Kyle Newacheck, Tim Herlihy, Beau Flynn, Julie Goldstein, and Lucas Smith are acting as executive producers.
