Netflix’s film division has fired on all cylinders this week, as the streaming service was successfully able to acquire Simon Kinberg’s upcoming film Here Comes The Flood, according to Deadline.
It was revealed on Wednesday night that the script found its way on the market, quickly following Netflix acquisition of the Dwayne Johnson-Emily Blunt vehicle Ball and Chain. Netflix also solidified a deal with Joe Russo to produce the sequel to their surprise hit action film Extraction, as well as Louis Leterrier’s Bright 2. In addition. Former Bright director David Ayer will be signing to fully adapt Harlan Coben’s thriller novel Six Years.
Offers for Here Comes The Flood came by the multitudes, since it was Kinberg’s first original screenplay since the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie The film has been described as a character-motivated heist tale with elements of a love story.
Kinberg is currently eyeing a January release for his upcoming international spy thriller 355, which will star Jessica Chastain and be produced by Universal, FilmNation and Freckle Films. Kinberg also will be working with Apple on an untitled sci-fi series based loosely on HG Wells’ classic The War of the Worlds, which has currently found success as a TV series on EPIX.
