Neon Releases The Official Teaser For Boots Riley’s Sophomore Feature, ‘I Love Boosters’

KeKe Palmer in 'I Love Boosters'

Almost a decade after the release of his acclaimed film Sorry to Bother You, rapper and director Boots Riley returns to the film scene with his new feature, I Love Boosters, starring Keke Palmer.
Neon has released the first official trailer and poster for Riley’s highly anticipated sophomore picture. This comedy heist focuses on a group of shoplifters who aim to rob a “ruthless fashion mogul.” As for cast, this is certainly a stacked one; Palmer is joined by Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Lakeith Stanfield, Poppy Liu, Eliza González, Will Poulter, Don Cheadle, and Demi Moore. Like Sorry to Bother You, Riley serves as writer and director for I Love Boosters and continues to push “socially conscious” boundaries he established in his breakout 2018 debut, starring Stanfield and Tessa Thompson. Riley, a self-identifying communist, cemented his “politically-charged” and “surrealist” storytelling in his 2023 Amazon seven-episode series I Am A Virgo.
While I Love Boosters reunites Riley with Stanfield, it also marks another collaboration with Neon, the production company will produce and finance the picture with the intent to distribute in the U.S. and Canada, with Focus Features and Universal Pictures handling international distribution. Executive producers of the project include Gus Deardoff, Mike Jackman, and Waypoint’s Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum. Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett are producing under the Ryder Picture Company banner, while Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read are producing for Savage Rose Films.
I Love Boosters is set to make its world debut on March 12th as the opening-night film of the South by Southwest Film and Television Festival. The sophomore feature will be released in theaters on May 22.
