Joining Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Scott Adsit, Chris O’Dowd, Naomi Watts, and Terrence Howard in the offbeat comedy St. Vincent de Van Nuys will be Nate Corddry, who most recently appeared in comedies The Heat and Girl Most Likely. Landing the role could be an important step for Corddry’s career.
Aside from more central roles in a couple of low budget independent films, he’s mostly figured into the Hollywood scene as a bit player – albeit as a consistent bit player for the last seven years or so, and there’s something to be said for that. Corddry’s also made himself known on TV, with a co-starring role on the Kathy Bates-led Harry’s Law and supporting work as Zed in the Tron: Uprising animated series, a role he may be reprising live-action in the next Tron movie. He’ll also be appearing in the new Anna Faris/Allison Janney half-hour comedy Mom, which debutes this fall season on CBS. In St. Vincent de Van Nuys he’ll compete for screen time with the above cast, as well as Niles Fitch (Army Wives) who it would appear is playing the boy who befriends Murray’s curmudgeonly title character, but Corddry does find himself among the main ensemble.
Ted Melfi wrote, and is directing, the film, which is currently shooting. Release is planned for sometime in 2014.
