Oscar-winner Natalie Portman is in talks for a major role in the upcoming Untitled Steve Jobs Biopic for Universal, according to an exclusive from Deadline. The film, which was put in turnaround recently by Sony, is based on Walter Issacson’s best-selling Steve Jobs, his 2011 biography of the tech icon. The untitled film has had a rocky road to development, with Universal picking it up after Sony abandoned the project. Both Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio had been rumored for the lead role of the Apple co-founder, but Universal has reportedly settled on Michael Fassbbender (X-Men) to portray the tech genius, with Seth Rogen attached as Jobs’ partner Steve Wozniak. Portman’s role has not been revealed as of yet, but rumor has it that she will be Lisa, Jobs’ estranged daughter.
Portman recently wrapped her feature directorial debut A Tale of Love and Darkness and can be seen in the upcoming Jane Got a Gun which is set to hit theaters in early 2015.
Aaron Sorkin (A Few Good Men, and TV’s The West Wing and The Newsroom) will pen the screenplay based on Issacson’s book. Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire) will direct, with Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady producing.
