Bad Robot head honcho J.J. Abrams’s affinity for the so-called “mystery box” approach to storytelling – that is, that the mystery of the unknown is always more interesting than the reveal – is by now well-documented. So it should, perhaps, come as no surprise that Bad Robot is the company to drop this particular trick on us:
As of the time of this posting, the video already has over 200,000 hits on YouTube. It comes with no description, no title other than “Stranger,” little more specific than that haunting, sewn up face at the end of the clip. It’s not even clear if this is a movie property, or perhaps a return to TV.
At any rate, the clip promises “Soon.” And as soon as there is more, we’ll have it for you. In the meantime, let the wild speculation begin. Which, come to think of it, may be the point…
