‘My Eternal Summer’ Teaser Drops Before San Sebastian International Film Festival Debut

Copenhagen-based director Sylvia Le Fanu’s first feature film, My Eternal Summer, has released its teaser trailer ahead of its world premiere at the San Sebastian International Film Festival. The film will compete in the prestigious New Directors lineup.

The coming-of-age drama follows 15-year-old Fanny and her parents as they spend what will be their final summer together at their family’s summer house. The peaceful setting contrasts with the underlying grief they all share, knowing it will be Fanny’s mother’s last summer due to illness. According to the film’s synopsis, the story explores the family’s attempt to balance enjoying their remaining time together while confronting the inevitable.

The teaser gives a glimpse of the family dynamics, featuring Fanny asking her mother to describe herself in three words as part of a personality test. After the mother offers some suggestions, Fanny’s father steps in with a less welcome addition, hinting at the tension and bittersweet moments that characterize the film.

My Eternal Summer was written by Le Fanu and Mads Lind Knudsen. The film stars Kaya Toft Loholt as Fanny, Maria Rossing as her mother, and Anders Mossling as her father. The movie was produced by Jeppe Wowk for Denmark’s Adomeit Film, with support from the Danish Film Institute and additional co-financing from FilmFyn, DR, and Create Europe Program – Media, among others. TrustNordisk has taken on international sales for the film.

With its emotional narrative and picturesque setting, My Eternal Summer is expected to resonate with audiences.
