‘Murder, She Wrote’ Movie Returns Jessica Fletcher To The Screen Played By Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode in "HALLOWEEN," released by Universal Pictures on October 19, 2018.

Filmmaker Jason Moore is set to direct the return of Murder, She Wrote, starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis is planning to reprise the role of the mystery writer Jessica Fletcher, played by Angela Lansbury from the original crime series.

The film, by Universal Pictures, was announced on Wednesday that it will hit theaters on Dec. 22, 2027. Jason Moore will direct the film alongside scriptwriters Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Murder, She Wrote, the film, is going to be produced by Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood of Lord Miller.

Murder, She Wrote, the television series, originally aired in September of 1984. The show ran for 12 seasons and earned lead Angela Lansbury 12 Emmy nominations. The series had a potential reboot in 2013 on NBC but was pulled after Lansbury expressed her opposition for it. The NBC reboot was set to have Octavia Spencer as lead.

Jamie Lee Curtis recently expressed her excitement for her role as Jessica Fletcher at the Freakier Friday premiere last summer. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said she was “looking forward to tackling Murder, She Wrote” and “very excited” but tamping down her excitement until shooting began.
