

According to Variety, the animated film Groove Tails has added Alan Ritchson (Playdate, Reacher), Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, The Goldfinch), Ludacris (2 Fast 2 Furious, No Strings Attached) and Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid, You, Me & Tuscany) to the cast. The film will also star Agnez Mo (Reacher), CeeLo Green (Hotel Transylvania, Begin Again) and J.B. Smoove (Almost Christmas, Spider-Man: Far from Home).
Groove Tails centers around a mouse who is passionate about dance. However, when he expresses to his father about his desires of becoming a dancer, he is shut down. He further goes on a journey with different misfits he finds along the way.
The film will be directed by Bob Logan (Croods: A New Age, The LEGO Ninjago Movie). The screenplay was written by Johnny Mack (Something to Hide, Not Another Church Movie). Producers of the film include owner of Imprint Entertainment Michael Becker (Werewolves, Believe in Christmas) and Maryann Garger (Astro Boy, Flushed Away), who has won an Academy Award. Ritchson, Graham Chan (Worth, Trapline), Gillian Hormel (Tin Soldier, Bruised), Jeff Elliot (Canary Black, Poolman), Jeff Gum (The Forgiven, Primal) and Mary Aloe (Hershey, Mary) will executive produce.
Garger and Becker included their own thoughts regarding the making of the film, “From the beginning, our goal was to create a film that blends high-voltage, magnetic entertainment with the emotional resonance of a classic family adventure, delivered with flawless, premium artistry.”
The director also stated, “Groove Tails is a celebration of individuality, perseverance and the universal language of music. We’ve assembled an extraordinary cast that brings incredible energy, humor and heart to these characters. This is the kind of movie audiences of all ages can enjoy together.”
Groove Tails will finish animation towards the 2026 holiday season.
