Tonight’s MTV Movie Awards, this year celebrating their 25th anniversary, unveiled an exclusive clip of the eagerly anticipated Captain America: Civil War. Cap himself – Chris Evans – was on hand to present (in a ceremony that actually occurred last night) an action-packed scene in Marvel’s latest superhero behemoth. This tease offers a tense tease of what’s to come, something of which offers the Marvel franchise perhaps its most intense offering to date.
The clip shows Captain America engaged in battle, ably supported by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie). While the title of the film puts Steve Rogers’ superhero alias front and center, the film – directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2) – the film features nearly every one of the Avengers gang including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and eagerly anticipated newcomers Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-man (Tom Holland). Check out the latest clip below.
Noticeably absent are Marvel regulars Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Stakes are raised this go around as a political initiative (put into motion following the destructive events in past Marvel features) causes a rift in allegiances between our band of superheros. In-fighting rages as the team diverges between the side of Captain America and the side of Iron Man. Paul Bettany, Sebastian Stan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, William Hurt and Daniel Brühl also star.
Captain America: Civil War opens in theaters on May 6th.
