Morgan Saylor is Advised ‘Don’t Do Drugs’ in Electric New ‘White Girl’ Clips

The controversial Sundance hit White Girl is finally heading to theaters after being acquired by FilmRise and Netflix. The explosive look at NYC youth has been making headlines for its break from gender and racial stereotypes, in contrast to its off-putting title. Watch two new clips below.

White Girl stars Homeland‘s Morgan Saylor as Leah, who seeks out pleasure in any form through sex, drugs and alcohol. Falling for a drug dealer, Blue, the two begin selling dime bags and living the high life. Reality soon comes crashing down upon the young lovers as Blue is arrested and Leah is left with a large amount of coke. With the help of an overpriced lawyer, Leah fights to get Blue back. White Girl marks the debut of writer-director Elizabeth Wood, who based her first feature off her own experiences.

Hamilton fans can also catch Anthony Ramos in White Girl, and he appears in the second clip for a brief moment as one of Blue’s friends. Ramos is joined by Brian Marc, as known as hip-hop artist Sene (Nerve, Luke Cage), Chris North (Sex and the City, The Good Wife), Justin Bartha (The Hangover, Holy Rollers) and India Salvor Menuez (Transparent).

White Girl hits theaters in New York on Sept. 2, Los Angeles on Sept. 9 and in limited release on Sept. 16.
