Deadline reported Tuesday that production for The Minute You Wake Up Dead, a thriller starring Morgan Freeman, Cole Hauser, and Jaimie Alexander, is officially underway.
The film follows a stockbroker played by Hauser, who finds himself entangled in an insurance scam with his neighbor, played by Alexander. Freeman portrays Sheriff Thurmond Fowler, who leads the investigation of the fraud and the murders that take place because of it, but ends up deeper in the mystery than he anticipated.
Milestone Studios and Andrew Stevens produce the film. Dawn Bursteen and Alan B. Bursteen from Milestone Studios are also executive producers. Timothy Holland wrote the original screenplay, and Michael Mailer will direct the film.
Freeman has most recently wrapped production on Lionsgate’s Paradise Highway, a crime drama starring Frank Grillo, Cameron Monaghan, and Juliette Binoche. Post-production is also underway for A Good Person, where Freeman will star alongside Florence Pugh, Celeste O’Connor, and Molly Shannon.
Cole Hauser can be seen in Paramount’s series Yellowstone, which is just beginning its fourth season.
Jaimie Alexander will appear later in the upcoming Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, reprising her role in the fourth installment as Lady Sif. Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to hit theaters on July 8, 2022.
