Illumination, the animation titian behind the Minions has announced the release date for its next installment in its Despicable Me/Minions Franchise with Minions 3 for June 2027.
To say the Minions put Illumination on the map would be an understatement. The minions are a global phenomenon that even after 10 years is the gift that keeps giving. The combined total box office gross for the flagship franchise is around 5 billion and counting with Despicable Me 4 still going strong with its theatrical release grossing 230 million globally. Minions 3 is set to be written by Brian Lynch who wrote the first installment for the Minions spin-off movies and Illumination’s Secret Life of Pets. Minions 3 will be directed by franchise legend Pierre Coffin who has also been the lead voice for the minions since the breakout original Despicable Me. In the slots for the film’s producers are Chris Meledandri current CEO of Illumination and Bill Ryan who recently produced the massively successful The Super Mario Bros movie.
Minions 3 may be a long way away compared to most other releases, but Illumination has yet to hit a miss. With a long-running streak of Box office booms it’s pretty safe to say that Minions 3 will be making bank and in the meantime Illumination will keep its evil yellow minions busy with production.
