John Lithgow and Hugh Dancy are officially joining the likes of Reid Scott and Paul Walter in Mindy Kaling’s upcoming comedy Late Night, directed by Nisha Ganatra.
According to Variety, Kaling not only penned the screenplay, but she will also star in the film alongside Emma Thompson and help produce with Howard Klein. 30West and FilmNation Entertainment will be financing Kaling’s work.
The basic plot line of Late Night is that a long-running late night night talk show host (Thompson) hires a young, female writer (Kaling) in order to boost her ratings and save her career, and, unintentionally, rejuvenate her life in the process.
Lithgow can be seen in the popular Netflix series The Crown from which he won both an Emmy and a Screen Actors Guild Award. He can also be seen in recent performances within Beatriz at Dinner and Miss Sloane.
Dancy spent years as FBI investigator Will Graham in the hit NBC series Hannibal based off of the film Silence of the Lambs. He currently appears on the Hulu original series The Path. He also appeared in Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) and Ella Enchanted (2004).
