Miles Teller (Whiplash) has been cast in the true-story comedy, Arms and the Dudes with Jonah Hill (22 Jump Street) and Hangover director Todd Phillips. The movie follows Efraim Diveroli (Hill) and David Packouz (Teller) who secure a $300 million contract to supply weapons to U.S. allies in Afghanistan, soon getting in way over their heads.
Teller is hot off the success from staring in the award-nominated drama, Whiplash. However, this will give him a chance to return to the comical movies that first earned him notice like 21 & Over and Project X – the latter of which Phillips produced. Teller is also staring as Reid Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four. Phillips hasn’t directed a film since finishing The Hangover trilogy with The Hangover Part III.
True story comedies are becoming en vogue. Nicholas Cage recently joined Army of One as a construction worker who took it upon himself to find Osama Bin Laden. Based on Phillips history, Arms and the Dudes will lean towards the comedy he’s known for rather than political satire.
