Mike Leigh has wasted little to no time preparing to shoot his next film, a currently untitled production that will be shot in the United Kingdom sometime this summer, according to Deadline. Backing Leigh will be Cornerstone Films, who will be handling the film’s international sales alongside Bleecker Street for U.S. distribution. For Bleecker Street, this will be their time first collaborating with Leigh, who made a name for himself on his opus Mr. Turner. The division eOne will be distributing the film in the UK, keeping a longtime relationship intact with the expertise of Leigh and Thin Man Films.
Funding for the untitled film will be handled by Film4, Ingenious and a Spanish production company known as The Mediapro Studio, who will also serve as co-producers on the project. Among the individuals tasked with producing are Georgina Lowe of Thin Man Films and Gail Egan, who will hold the title of executive producer. Details regarding the film’s plot have been hidden from the public eye, but it’s expected to enter the market next week at the EFM located in Berlin, Germany.
An Oscar darling nominated a whopping seven times, Leigh most recently completed the period drama Peterloo, which has met strong reviews from critics.
