According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman will co-star will Lily James in The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The film takes place in the aftermath of World War II through the eyes of Juliet Ashton, who will be portrayed by James. She decides to write about the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, a book club formed in the English Channel on the island of Guernsey, which lies off the coast of Normandy. Once she receives a letter from Dawsey (Huisman), the story begins. Huisman will play a farmer on the island.
Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is set to direct with a script from Don Roos and Tom Bezucha. The film will be distributed by Studio Canal. The film is based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Annie Barros and Mary Ann Shaffer. It reached the #1 spot on the NY Times Best Seller List for paperbacks.
