Michael B. Jordan’s The Thomas Crown Affair remake has received an early 2027 release date. The film is a remake of the 1968 film directed by Norman Jewison, which starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. Like the original, it follows an insurance investigator working to track down the perpetrator of a bank heist. It will be the second remake after the 1999 remake, which starred Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
Michael B. Jordan is directing and starring in the film, which is also set to star Taylor Russell. The Fall Guy and Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce wrote the script. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff are producing the film, along with Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo, through the production company Outlier Society. The writer of the original movie, Alan Trustman, is executive producing.
The film was first teased at Cinemacon 2025, where, in a video, Michael B Jordan shared that filming was well underway in London, before discussing the movie by saying, “This isn’t just another remake. It’s a kind of movie that demands the big screen”. At that same event, Amazon MGM exec Kevin Wilson shared that the film “promises to surprise audiences with a few modern twists.” The announcement also comes at a fitting time for Jordan, as the Ryan Coogler-directed film Sinners, which stars Jordan in two lead roles, did incredibly well in its opening weekend, and continues to do well with each subsequent weekend.
Amazon MGM Studios will release the film in standard format and IMAX screens on March 5, 2027.
