All Michael B. Jordan fanatics rejoice because, according to an announcement on Wednesday, October 17, Jordan will be both starring in and producing the upcoming The Silver Bear.
While Lionsgate will be distributing the action-filled piece, there has yet to be a director attached to the film. The screenplay, written by Frank Baldwin, is based on a novel series of the same name by Derek Haas. The story follows Columbus, an assassin known also as “The Silver Bear.” In his most recent job, he marks a political figure with presidential goals.
Lionsgate chairman Joe Drake had this to say about Jordan’s inclusion in the film:
“‘The Silver Bear’ is the kind of story that needs to be experienced on the big screen and Michael is the perfect movie star to inhabit the skin of this dynamic character and take us into the cinematic world of Columbus… We’re incredibly honored that Michael and Nickel City chose Lionsgate to partner with in bringing this exciting property to life.”
Nickel City is also in the works to produce the film, and Ankur Rungta of the company had this to say:
“We could not be more excited to work with Michael and Lionsgate… We have been huge fans of Michael all the way back to his days in ‘The Wire,’ and from our first meeting we knew that he was the perfect fit for the role of Columbus.
Jordan is most recognizable for his roles as Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station, Adonis Creed in Creed, and Erik Killmonger in Black Panther.
