A new Tom Clancy adaptation is on the horizon at Paramount with Michael B. Jordan set for the lead role. Variety first reported the news. Jordan will star as Clancy hero John Clark, a secondary fixture within the Jack Ryan world before he broke out on his own in Without Remorse and Rainbow Six. Jordan will star in a series of films, with Without Remorse kicking them off as an origin story.
John Clark, a.k.a. John Terrence Kelly, is an ex-Navy Seal turned CIA operative. He was often seen as the muscle to Jack Ryan’s CIA analyst, but is ready for his own spotlight. These projects have been in the works for some time now, with both Christopher McQuarrie and Ryan Reynolds circling it at varying points.
Clark has been played in the past by Willem Dafoe in Clear and Present Danger and by Liev Schreiber in The Sum of All Fears.
After making waves earlier this year playing Killmonger in Black Panther, Jordan is set to return to theaters with Creed II, a follow-up to its highly acclaimed predecessor. He will soon be filming the legal drama Just Mercy. The John Clark films will mark Jordan’s second non-superhero film series, cementing him as a Hollywood power-player in the acting world.
