Michael B. Jordan and director Ryan Coogler have teamed up for their fifth collaboration, the horror-thriller Sinners, set in a fictional American South during the Jim Crow era.
First announced in January of this year, Sinners comes from an original screenplay by Coogler who last directed 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In addition to Jordan, the film will star Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, & Delroy Lindo. Jordan was tasked with a double role, playing twin brothers who return to their hometown, unbeknownst to them the hidden evil that awaits within the darkness. The film is directed and co-produced by Coogler under his Proximity Media company.
Details about Coogler’s upcoming film had been kept under wraps since its announcement, with only hints about the film’s shooting location in New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as the genre, and the involvement of rising star Michael B. Jordan, who has previously been seen in lead roles in Coogler’s Creed trilogy, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe installment Black Panther alongside friend and late actor Chadwick Boseman.
Michael B. Jordan revealed the film’s title and first official poster to his Instagram on Monday, captioned with a quote from the trailer “Dance with the devil…and he’ll follow you home.” The trailer features Jordan arming himself in a barn as he prepares to fend off a horde of indistinguishable entities outside.
Warner Bros. distributes Sinners, slated for its American theatrical release on March 7th, 2025. Watch the first trailer here.
