Michael B. Jordan ran into one of his high school bullies at the recent premiere of Creed III. Lore’l, The Morning Hustle host of the radio show who used to attend high school with the actor, released on her podcast that she was one of many students who teased the then-aspiring actor for his name.
Variety writes what Lore’l said on her show: “You know what’s so crazy? I went to school with Michael B. Jordan at a point in life,” Lore’l said on the podcast. “And to be honest with you, we teased him all the damn time because his name was Michael Jordan. Let’s start there, and he was no Michael Jordan.”
She then continued to add: “He also would come to school with a headshot,” she said. “We lived in Newark; that’s the hood. We would make fun of him like, ‘What you gonna do with your stupid headshot!?’ And now look at him!”
Later on, at the Creed III premiere, Jordan and Lore’l met in person, where she interviewed the actor and told him, “We go way back, all the way back to Chad Science [Academy] in Newark.”
Creed III is Jordan’s third break as boxing champion Adonis Creed and the actor’s directorial debut. The sequel, which pits the character of Jordan against Jonathan Majors, has received critical acclaim. Variety film critic Owen Gleiberman called the film a “solid sequel” in his review, writing, “In a thriller-like sports drama, Jonathan Majors moves from Adonis’ sinister friend to his mettle as a boxing adversary.” Proved again… Another note permeates the film, directed by star Michael B. Jordan, with impressive debut talent.
Creed III will be in theaters nationwide on March 3.
