According to a Hollywood Reporter Exclusive, creative couple Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone will be teaming up on New Line‘s upcoming action comedy, Super Intelligence. McCarthy is poised to headline the movie while Falcone directs. This pattern seems to hold well for them, as the same dynamic will occur in their holiday comedy Margie Claus.
Although the majority of us remember the two best for their work together in the unforgettable airplane scene in the 2011 comedy Bridesmaids, the married duo has worked together on three other films, the latest being the soon-to-be-released campus-based Life of the Party. Interestingly enough, after a nationwide college competition, Life of the Party has been chosen to premiere at Auburn University this April.
Super Intelligence’s plot revolves around Carol Peters (McCarthy), a woman retired from the corporate sector whose existence gets thrown into chaos when she is “selected for observation by the world’s first super-intelligence, an artificial intelligence that may or may not take over the world.”
McCarthy has been involved with multiple projects in recent months along with Super Intelligence, with Can You Ever Forgive Me to bow after Life of the Party. Although we know McCarthy as a classic funny lady, and we will certainly be seeing that side of her in both Super Intelligence and Life of the Party, it looks the previously-stated, diversely-varying genre films will be a means for her to show off her full acting oeuvre.
We are excited to learn of the new developments in the upcoming months about this new action comedy.
