Scream is getting a sequel with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Radio Silence) directing. Returning to the Scream franchise are writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, who are working on the screenplay. Spyglass Media and Paramount have also released the names of actors coming back. Melissa Barrera (Sam), Jasmin Savoy Brown (Mindy), Mason Gooding (Chad), and Jenna Ortega (Tara) are all coming back.
Starting a fresh chapter, the four survivors of Ghostface leave Woodsboro in this next installment.
Producers for the upcoming film include Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak.
Grossing more than $140 million at the global box office, the latest Scream earned a “Certified Fresh” score from Rotten Tomatoes. The franchise has recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. With box office success Paramount proves that there is still a need for moviegoers to see films no matter the budget. The latest installment brought back original members Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell.
Scream is on Digital, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and streaming at Paramount+.
Among the five films in the Scream franchise, the series has amounted to over $744 million at the worldwide box office.
The release of Scream‘s sequel should be out on March 31, 2023.
