Yahoo and Variety have confirmed that Mel Gibson and Elisha Cuthbert are joining Josh Duhamel in the upcoming film Bandit. The crime thriller will be directed by Uncharted Fan Film writer-director Allan Ungar. It follows Josh Duhamel as a daring career criminal assuming a new identity in Canada. He then goes to rob a record 63 banks and jewelry stores while being hunted by a rogue task force.
Based on the 1996 true crime novel The Flying Bandit. Written by Robert Knuckle and based on the extraordinary true story of the most daring criminal in the nation’s history: Canada’s Flying Bandit.
While the cast seems rather early 2000’s, this picture still has a great chance of being something to look out for, and could be a lot of fun. Duhamel currently stars in Jupiter’s Legacy on Netflix, while Elisha Cuthbert, most well-known for The Girl Next Door and The House of Wax, recently has starred in the Netflix show The Ranch as well as ABC’s Happy Endings.
Mel Gibson has also joined the cast, and while his career heights include starring in Braveheart and Mad Max, the 65 year-old actor has stayed plenty busy. He is currently in various stages of production in seven projects.
The film is currently in pre-production and could eye a late 2021 release or simply a 2022 release.
