Meg 2: The Trench is the long-awaited science-fiction sequel to the 2018 hit movie, The Meg. Jason Statham, Cliff Curtis, Page Kennedy, and Shuya Sophia Cai are set to reprise their roles in this action film that began filming in January 2022.
Sienna Guillory, Skyler Samuels, and Sergio Peris-Mencheta have also joined the cast. Most known for her roles in the Resident Evil franchise, Guillory will play the leader of an “applied sciences division.” Samuels starred in the show The Gifted and now will take on the role of Statham’s submarine crewmember. Peris-Mencheta is set to play one of the villains in this sequel.
Director Ben Wheatley is known for his work on High-Rise and Free Fire and is dedicating his talents to this highly anticipated shark-hunting thriller. Much of the plot is hidden from the public for now, but shooting is taking place in the U.K.
There is no release date for the film yet, but updates should continue to be released with production underway.
