

Mattel, the toy company juggernaut behind the likes of Barbie and Hot Wheels, has just merged its film and television production companies into one under the name “Mattel Studios“. Robbie Brenner is set to be the head of Mattel Studios. She was previously the president of Mattel Films, and she now has been promoted to chief content officer of this new banner.
Under Brenner, Jennifer Breslow will be the new head of television at the company. To fill the shoes of Brenner, Darian Lanzetta and Tom McNulty will serve as senior executives of the film division. All will still ultimately report to Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz.
Mattel burst into the film scene with the worldwide phenomenon Barbie in 2023, grossing over $1 billion worldwide. The success of the Margot Robbie-led comedy inspired many more films and television series’ based on Mattel’s famous toy brands. They are currently developing a Masters of the Universe film with Amazon MGM set to release next year. Additionally, a Matchbox car movie is in development for Apple, with John Cena attached to star. Other projects on their slate include Hot Wheels, Thomas & Friends, and Barney. With this new production company established, expect many more announcements and releases coming out of Mattel in the near future.
