Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins Will Smith in ‘Gemini Man’

Mary Elizabeth Winstead has been cast in Bad Robot's 'The Cellar'.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Death Proof) has been chosen to share the screen with Will Smith (Suicide Squad, Bright) in the upcoming movie Gemini Man according to the Hollywood Reporter. Smith was almost joined by an actress well-known for her role playing double (and triple and more) clone roles in one scene: Tatiana Maslany, the talented lead of the recently-ended television show Orphan Black. In the end, however, Winstead was the one to secure the role.

Directed by Ang Lee, the film has an interesting premise: Smith will act as both the main male lead and an antagonist trying to assassinate him. Not only is the assassin his clone, but he is half the age of Smith’s protagonist. At least he will (eventually, after her change of heart) have an ally in Winstead, who is set to play a spying co-worker who ends up joining him in his battle.

As of now, there is no specified release date.
