Marvel’s Oddest Couple Is Back In ‘Venom: The Last Dance’

Marvel’s oddest couple is back for one last dance! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and Columbia Pictures have announced the final title for their third and final Venom film, Venom: The Last Dance

Venom: The Last Dance once again stars Hardy, in his first full return to the role since 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage (Hardy briefly appeared in the post-credits scene of 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home). Little is known about the plot of The Last Dance, but Dr. Strange’s Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ted Lasso’s Juno Temple are set to join the cast. Kelly Marcel, who had writing credits on the past two Venom films, is set to make her directorial debut with this film.

Venom: The Last Dance is the next film in Sony Pictures’ Universe of Spider-Man Characters (sometimes abbreviated SPUMC) that began with the original Venom film in 2018. It was followed up by the literally named Venom: Let There Be Carnage, where Eddie and Venom came in conflict with Carnage, a serial killer bonded with a symbiote. The universe then expanded to the maligned vampire film Morbius in 2022, which was a critical and commercial failure (and had an even more disastrous re-release). Their most recent release, Madame Web, has been very public critical and commercial flop that even star Dakota Johnson is distancing herself from. Their next film, Kraven the Hunter, is set to adapt another one of Spider-Man’s most iconic foes to the big screen this August.

Sony is likely hoping that this new film can bring their universe back on track, as the Venom movies have always been the best received parts of this universe both critically and financially. Venom: The Last Dance is set to release on October 25, 2024 (two weeks earlier than its previous release date of November 8).
